Services

What is Canicross?

Canicross is ‘Canine Cross-country’ – a sport where a person and dog run together as a team. It’s a lot of fun and can be a great way to improve the physical fitness and mental health of both human and canine participants.

Getting Started

If you have never canicrossed before and want to get started, I recommend starting with a one to one Canicross Introduction, where you can try on different Canicross kit and then try it out on a short run / jog / hike (you choose the pace!) to try out the kit and learn the basics of how to run together with your dog.

Skills Classes

These classes are suitable for those who are new to Canicross as well as those who are more experienced. They focus on specific skills required to run safely and enjoyably with your dog, such as how to warm up and cool down, how to overtake, and how to safely navigate hills.

Running Programmes

Whether you are wanting to reach 5K, 10K, half marathon or longer distances, I have a programme to support you to safely increase your distance over a sensible period of time. Programmes include group runs, virtual group support and advice on additional training, nutrition, kit and motivation.

Group Runs

Canicross is an activity you can do on your own with your dog, but it can be much more enjoyable to run in a group. My group runs vary in distance and terrain to be inclusive of different abilities and preferences. Group sizes are small to enable dogs who can become easily overwhelmed to feel more comfortable. Included in the group run offer are Adventure Days where we venture further afield to enjoy interesting and sometimes a little more technical trails.

Cani-Hikes

We don’t always run! I also organise walks in the countryside too, known as cani-hikes. These enable people and their dogs to explore interesting trails at a more relaxed pace.

Testimonials

North Yorkshire Canicross gets a big thumbs up from me and a very enthusiastic waggy tail from Reggie the sprocker!

I was quite nervous before our lesson as my boy can be quite excitable and boisterous but i needn’t have worried. Lindsey put us both at ease straight away. She really does know her stuff and I’m looking forward to doing some hikes and runs with her.

Mande and Harvey

Lindsey was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about canicross and dogs and we are so keen to get started now! Lina is still young so we will start very gradually but looking forward to doing some of the skills sessions later. Many thanks to Lindsey for an enjoyable and informative session!!

I highly recommend the Intro to Canicross events if you are considering starting to run with your dog. My boy is just coming of age (11.5 months) and I wanted to ensure I introduced running correctly so as not to cause injury -— these sessions enable you to discuss the equipment and ‘try before you buy’, you also experience a run whilst learning commands. I’m looking forward now to our new adventures.
